The Hawaii Islands National Humpback Whale Sanctuary Advisory Council will meet virtually from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on November 18.
Advisory board members will address topics such as the offshore energy working group update, the board’s revised charger project, a resolution supporting the voluntary guidelines for humpback whales and other topics. Pacific Island Region Cultural Resources Coordinator Kalani Quiocho will introduce his new position to the board. In addition, the Native Hawaiian representative of the council will conduct a cultural training entitled “O Kanaloa Ke Akua”, get to know Kanaloanuiakea. The board will also answer questions from members and the public.
The meeting will be held using Google Meet via a video call link at meet.google.com/xfo-pxjq-gnv. Participants can also join by dialing (708) 943-7175 and entering the PIN code 166 372 995 #.
To offer public comment, which will take place around 12 p.m., register in advance by emailing cindy.among-serrao@noaa.gov. The order of comments will be based on the date and time of the email notification. No public comments will be recorded in audio or video.
