The Rock Shows Support For Brendan Fraser After ‘The Whale’ Screening

At the Venice Film Festival this week, The whale reportedly received a six-minute standing ovation – reducing the actor to tears. Now friend and former co-star Dwayne Johnson has shown his support.

You may recall The Rock played alongside Fraser in 2001 The return of the mummy. Well, it looks like the duo have stuck together for each other’s careers. Johnson tweeted a video of the standing ovation Fraser received at the Venice Film Festival, writing that it made him “so happy” to see.

The whale is set to be released in the US on December 9, but a UK release date has yet to be confirmed. Given the standing ovation and the timing of the film’s release, we may see Fraser on the awards circuit next year.
