The perfect wonderful steam train journey for fans of Thomas the Tank Engine


A special steam train ride for Thomas the Tank Engine fans will be running very soon at a station near Surrey. Thomas and his friends will return to the Watercress Line just a 23 minute drive from Farnham for more fun and adventure.

Children will be able to board the steam locomotive at Ropley station from May 28 to June 5 to coincide with school holidays and the Jubilee weekend. Joining Thomas at the station will be station sweepers Sodor Rusty and Dusty, Diesel and Toad – with Sir Topham Hatt keeping all activities in order.

Three new outdoor entertainment shows will take place each day for the whole family to enjoy as Rusty and Dusty invite their friends to join them. Young fans can create special memories meeting their favorite characters Sir Topham Hatt, Rusty and Dusty up close and there will be plenty more fun in store with Thomas and his friends.

Activities include a ride behind Thomas the Tank Engine, unlimited rides on the Model Railway, vintage fairground rides for children, a ride on the Great Steam Trains, and the Imagination Station play area.

How to book tickets

  • All activities and rides are included in the ticket price, and there are no entrance fees for children under two. Parking at Ropley station is free
  • Activities run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and trains run from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
