Many moviegoers (and even casual moviegoers) are looking forward to seeing Ruben Östlund triangle of sadness as it won the prestigious Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. A satirical look at pervasive social prejudice and gender dynamics, Triangle of Sadness documents what happens when a luxury cruise ship carrying rich and dirty figures, influencers, service workers and a Marxist captain crashes into A desert island.
Besides its intriguing plot, triangle of sadness also has a stellar cast of actors that includes icons Woody Harrelson and Dolly de Leon. The movie has a lot of familiar faces as most of its actors have starred in notable TV shows and movies.
Harris Dickinson: The King’s Man (2021)

In triangle of sadness, the English actor Harris Dickinson embodies the model Carl who, with his girlfriend Yaya, boards the yacht transporting the ultra-rich. Although he had notable performances over the previous decade, particularly his portrayal of Frankie in beach ratsDickinson also appeared in the spy film The king’s man.
In Matthew Vaughn’s spy film, Dickinson was given the role of Conrad Oxford, the son of spy ring leader Orlando Oxford. Dean took the place of the assassin Syonide in Black Lightning. Although not included in the main character roster, Syonide has a storied history where she was taken by the villainous Tobias Whale under his wing. Syonide is a loyal character who tends to be brash and ruthless. While triangle of sadness The character can initially be seen as a helpless role model, Dean’s performance as Syonide shows that she is capable of bringing strong personalities to life.
Dolly De Leon: Folklore (2021)

Originally from the Philippines, Dolly de Leon is a stage, television and film actress who has starred in numerous projects in her home country. She usually plays supporting roles in Filipino projects but is also known for collaborating with famous Filipino author Lav Diaz in his films. the stop and Ha’s story.
Viewers around the world can witness de Leon’s acting prowess by watching HBO’s horror anthology show, Folklore, where she plays a policeman whose son suddenly becomes seriously ill. In 2012, Burić played Russian boxer-turned-billionaire Yuri Karpov who, along with the rest of the earth’s inhabitants, attempts to enter an ark designed to survive the impending apocalypse. However, Yuri falls to his death as he hastily tries to push his sons into entering the ark. Her role in 2012 bears some similarities to her role in triangle of sadnessas he also plays a Russian oligarch in Östlund’s film, showing that he can easily play rich and important fools.

There’s no doubt that Woody Harrelson is a Hollywood icon through and through. Harrelson’s career took off when he joined the cast of Cheerswhich is considered one of the best sitcoms of the 90s alongside Seinfeld and Friends.
But viewers may remember the Oscar-nominated actor best for his character Marty Hart on the HBO TV show real detective, which also featured another Hollywood darling, Matthew McConaughey. Marty is a very polarizing character, who stands out for his infidelity and commitment to his work. With his superior acting skills, Harrelson can easily take on various personas, including playing the Marxist yacht captain in triangle of sadness.

German actress Iris Burben has been working since 1969. She is best known for her starring roles in German television shows, such as the comedy sketchup and sitcom Zwei himmlische Töchter.
Outside of Germany, Berben also landed a role in the 2016 feel-good movie Eddie the eagle, where she played cafe owner Petra and starred alongside Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman. The character of Berben in Eddie the eagle is generous as she is the first person who believed in Eddie and gave him a place to stay. In triangle of sadnessit’s interesting to see Berben playing a different character as a guest German who’s stuck saying the same thing over and over.
Amanda Walker: 28 Weeks Later (2007)

Thanks to her decades of experience in theater as well as her training at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama, English actress Amanda Walker has been seen in a handful of notable films (including the Wachowski epic in 2012 cloud atlas).

It looks like Östlund made sure to bring in a few iconic industry veterans in his satirical film Palme d’Or. Joining the crew is Oliver Ford Davies, who viewers may know from the star wars prequel films as Frankish Governor of Naboo, Sio Bibble.
But more recently, Davies also brought a very interesting character to life on the HBO show game of thrones. Fans of the show know him as Baratheon’s loyal servant Maester Cressen. Although appearing in game of thrones in a single episode, Davies’ role was memorable as he established the hold of the witch Melisandre over Stannis Baratheon. With his performance in game of thronesDavies is sure to give a gripping performance as a billionaire who made money making guns in Triangle of sadness.
Jean-Christophe Folly: Irma Vep (2022)

Although he does not have a Wikipedia page, actor Jean-Christophe Folly has been part of many international productions, appearing in films produced in Spain, France and Italy. Folie is also part of the French TV show UFO(s)which is a comedy about a space engineer named Didere Matheur.
Folly also had a small role as an acting teacher in the HBO miniseries Irma Vepwhich is based on Oliver Assayas’ 1996 film of the same name. Irma Vep, he played alongside other famous actors such as Alicia Vikander and Vincent Macaigne. While his role in Irma Vep wasn’t as notable as his role in other international projects, it’s thrilling to watch him play one of the working-class characters who find themselves on equal footing with the supermodels and billionaires of triangle of sadness.
Sunnyi Melles: The Awakening of Motti Wolkenbruch (2018)

Östlund also cast actors from his home country of Sweden for triangle of sadness. This includes veteran actress Sunnyi Melles, who has achieved great fame in Germany and Austria.
Through streaming websites, some of the movies and TV shows Melles has been in can be seen by audiences around the world. This includes the comedy film The awakening of Motti Wolkenbruch which is available to watch on Netflix, where Melles played the insurance client-slash-fortune-teller Frau Silberzweig in The Awakening by Motti Wolkenbrunch. This shows that Melles has the ability to easily play quirky characters on screen, which should also be expected in triangle of sadnesssince she plays the wife of a Russian oligarch in the film.
